What is O Licensing?
If your business uses goods vehicles, such as lorries and vans, then you may require an O Licence (Operator’s Licence) to operate legally and comply with UK legislation.
In the UK, you need an Operator’s License (often called an “O-license”) if you operate goods vehicles above 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight for commercial purposes on the roads.
There are three types of HGV O License, and the type you will need to obtain depends on the work you do.
We advise you what type of license you require, and how to meet the O Licence requirements by helping you identify whether they are taxed correctly, kept in a good, safe condition and for any drivers used in conjunction with these vehicles, ensure they have the correct license and training (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
